IT’S TIME TO RE-ELECT TOM BRUNO AS YOUR STATE WORKER REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES’ RETIREMENT SYSTEM (PERS) BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Tom is currently the Chairman of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) Board of Trustees as your State Worker Representative. He is the first PERS Chairman to be asked to testify before the NJ Assembly on behalf of Pension members, and the first to ever litigate a sitting Governor (former Governor Chris Christie) in an effort to secure the state’s full pension payment for employee pensions. He is also the first NJ PERS Chair to be interviewed on television to explain the contractual right of public employees to their full pension.
Tom also sits on the State Investment Council and is one of the founding ESG Committee members, and has been outspoken regarding his disdain for hedge funds and their exorbitant fees. Together with colleagues on the Council, the disdain translated into reductions of the allocations from 12.5%, to 6%, and then to the current 3%, saving our pension HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of DOLLARS annually!
Tom has been a staunch advocate for public employees and is now up for re-election. In order to get on the ballot and continue to fight for public workers, he needs your help now. He needs 500 nominations of currently working state employees by January 7, 2022. The election, if needed, will be in the Spring of 2022. Nominating is a simple, 30-second process for all ACTIVELY WORKING STATE WORKERS.
